Chair and professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Heart+Vascular Center/Maastricht UMC+; principal investigator Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht – CARIM; President of the Dutch Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery. Contributions to Cardiothoracic Surgery include development of epicardial, beating heart, catheter based surgical ablation techniques for add-on and stand-alone AF treatment. Main interest at present: Minimally invasive surgical techniques, Robotic AF surgery, long-term AF monitoring, registries and Value Based Health Care.
